Applications are invited for the role of Engagement and Support Mentor working within the Directorate of Student Life at Royal Holloway University of London. There are two positions available.
The Directorate of Student Life includes a broad range of student facing teams who are core to the student journey: Active Lifestyle & Sport, Chaplaincy, Counselling & Mental Health, Disability & Neurodiversity, Hall Life, International & Money Advice, Student Engagement & Insights and Wellbeing Support & Community.
These newly created full-time roles within the Wellbeing Support team provide an exciting opportunity to work closely with students and play an important role in the delivery of Royal Holloway’s wellbeing and experience offering.
Reporting to the Head of Wellbeing Support they will contribute to the work of the Directorate and support the strategy and aims of the University and Student Journey Division. They will be working with academic faculties to identify students who may require additional support to engage with their academic studies and participate in student life to maximise their academic success and student experience. The Mentors will work with academic departments and faculties, teams across Student Journey and will use engagement data to identity students who are not academically engaged through non-attendance, non-submission, and other key indicators. They will actively meet and talk with these students to identify where support is needed, provide opportunities for interventions, and to monitor their re-engagement
We are also seeking candidates who have strong knowledge and understanding of the student journey and the challenges students may face impacting their engagement and wellbeing. They should be strongly student focused, with a keenness to engage proactively and supportively with students on campus, and to consistently work with compassion, kindness and advocacy. Role holders will be expected to demonstrate our University values - being Daring, Innovative, Open and Respectful – in their work and be a champion and advocate for student mental wellbeing
With roles in Student Life there is a need for some campus-based working to enable in-person student appointments (based on student preference and need) but there may be some opportunity for working remotely each week.
In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
Generous annual leave entitlement
Training and Development opportunities
Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
Free parking
The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
