Here at Bonmarche we have a fantastic opportunity for a Shift Leader to join out team at out Distribution Site based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

Role purpose:

To provide daily support to the Distribution Shift managers, in order to ensure the efficient handling, storage, and throughput of all goods within of the Distribution Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations

Oversee and take responsibility for any department within the DC, either long term, or at short notice to cover. All roles are rotated throughout the Department Leader team.

Departmental KPI’s – recording, monitoring, reporting and managing.

Maintain accurate daily / weekly shift rotas, and KPI records.

Ensure all administration, and documentation of procedures relevant to the department, are maintained.

Upon request of the Shift Manager, to carry out any other ad hoc duties for the warehouse

Work closely with Shift Managers to ensure operational handovers are effective, efficient and robust

In line with the operational KPI’s for your Department hold Colleagues accountable for delivery, updating with the Distribution and Fulfilment Centre (DC/FC ) Shift Manager regarding on track/off track performance

Support Shift Managers and lead a dynamic and energetic work environment to drive operational excellence

Gain customers’ loyalty through the quality of the products and services

Develop and motivate Colleagues, in order to underpin an expanding operation within a customer service culture

Support specific project work as requested/required by the Shift Manager

Maintain the departmental notice boards, ensuring up to date information is published and displayed.

Communicate effectively with all internal, external customers / departments to ensure the smooth

running of the operation.

Plan and manage Colleague breaks in line with departmental requirements.

Assist in the application of Company stop and search procedures.

Organise levels and deployment of Colleagues effectively.

Request agency Colleagues in line with planning and KPI requirements, to cover any shortfall.

People

Assist in the identification of training needs for colleagues within the DC team

Monitor colleague performance, ensuring feedback is provided informally / formally on a regular basis.

Follow and promote all company policies and initiatives.

Deal effectively with colleague misconduct and underperformance, informing line managers/HR where necessary.

Ensure all return-to-work interviews are completed in a timely manner, and levels of absence are monitored.

Plan and manage Colleague holidays, ensuring the appropriate paperwork is completed.

Maintain up to date and accurate Colleague registers, Timekeeper and agency records.

Health & Safety

Always maintain a safe working environment on shift, ensuring the management of Health and Safety is paramount with a high priority across all H & S activities conducted in accordance with the H & S policy

Support a don’t “walk by “culture and ensure “ clean as you go “ culture is embedded with and through Colleagues

Ensure Safety and Environmental KPI’s are achieved

Innovation & Problem Solving

Demonstrates a creative bias towards developing new procedures and systems that affect improvements within day-to-day activities/tasks

Demonstrates commercial awareness and implications of suggestions when considering new solutions

Implement ideas for change quickly and effectively

Review and monitor the success of improvements to know what works and what doesn’t

Seek views and opinions from colleagues and stakeholders and considers them when making decisions.

Skills Required

The ability to lead a team of colleagues in any department within the DC in achieving the required targets

The ability to motivate colleagues to achieve both the company and personal goals

The ability to identify colleagues’ skills, to allow them to progress within the company

The ability to adapt dynamically, to respond to any situational changes within the daily and long-term plans

The ability to analyse data and reports, to track the performance of department and individuals and set targets

An understanding of the performance, issues affecting departmental, and the ability to respond in an appropriate manner to rectify issues is essential.
