We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Computer Assistant 's at the 48th Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Lakenheath, United Kingdom.
What will be your primary role?
The primary purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of information systems to include acquisition, support, training, and installations for the Civil Engineer Squadron. The incumbent will administer all squadron information systems; manage life cycle of computer systems and software for the squadron; manage the squadron information systems security program. Information Assurance Manager (IAM) for installation File Servers and act as a Telephone Control Officer (TCO).

The applicant must have minimum one year specialized experience as per the required key skills

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Knowledge of computer and network standards, policies, and techniques.
2. Knowledge of servers and commercial off the shelf/government off the shelf software to identify corrective or preventative actions to ensure optimum performance.
3. Knowledge of facility environment and infrastructure to support computer systems.
4. Skills in troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve conventional problems and provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers.
5. Ability to use and maintain a computer system, equipment, and software; analyze computer network, software, and hardware problems and develop effective and economical solutions; and train users on new computer systems.
6. Ability to communicate factual and procedural information clearly, both orally and in writing.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required.
5. You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
6. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
7. Your work hours will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies
8. May be required to work other than normal duty hours.
9. Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
10. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid CAT B driver’s license may be required for the position.
NOTE: You will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
