Avanti Fields School is seeking an inspiring Subject Lead for Geography, with middle leadership responsibility for the subject, working closely with the Head of Humanities and History Lead.
This role offers the opportunity to shape and lead a high-quality Geography curriculum that is ambitious, well sequenced and inclusive, promoting curiosity about the world and supporting strong outcomes for all pupils.
The successful candidate will lead curriculum planning, assessment and resourcing within Geography, monitor standards and drive subject improvement.
As a subject leader, you will support and develop colleagues, promote consistently high expectations in teaching and learning, and embed literacy, numeracy and digital skills across the subject, while modelling excellent classroom practice.
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed teacher to take on a meaningful leadership role within a values-driven school community, where professional growth is encouraged and education is rooted in character, care and purpose.

Avanti Fields School is an all-through, faith-designated (Hindu) state school which welcomed the first intake of Year 7 students in September 2018, and first intake of Nursery and Reception students in September 2022. The school is rapidly expanding and will grow year by year to a full cohort of 1,320. This is an exciting time to join the school as it continues its journey to outstanding.

What will you do?
• Lead and develop a high-quality Geography curriculum, ensuring strong progress, achievement and inclusive outcomes for all pupils.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the subject, including curriculum planning, self-evaluation, health and safety, and contribution to whole-school priorities.
• Line manage, support and appraise Geography staff, fostering a culture of professional growth, collaboration and shared accountability.
• Model excellent classroom practice through high-quality teaching, assessment and behaviour management, underpinned by strong subject knowledge.
• Promote safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external partners in line with statutory and Trust expectations.

• Able to self-start, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team- whether led or leading
• QTS qualified
• Clear vision and understanding of how to implement and sustain a high quality teaching and learning
• Excellent skills in the use and application of technology
