SCIDA Marshall Engineer - Ref: 1955

UK Wide travel - Flexible Work Location

Telent are now looking for a SCIDA Marshall Engineer to support the recent takeover of the RAF SCIDA programme. This Flexible Work Location role will see you delivering specialist SCIDA oversight, guiding Project Marshall installations, and ensuring engineering compliance across multiple RAF sites, UK wide. If you're motivated by technical assurance, problem‑solving, and working at the heart of critical national infrastructure, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful operational impact.

At Telent, you will have the opportunity to be a part of something bigger.

You will drive delivery of SCIDA services, project guidance and expertise to Project Marshall and your allocated sites as detailed in the AKKODIS contract and JSP 453, assisting the RAF in maintaining continuity of operational services. Visit sites within your AOR as required to implement ECR and audit processes, resolve SCIDA‑related issues and maintain regular contact with on‑site engineering teams.

The Marshall Engineer will also act as a focal point for enquiries relating to engineering standards across your allocated sites, with particular focus on JSP 453, JSP 440, AP 600 and relevant British Standards. Provide guidance to site staff, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with change control requirements, including accurate ECR submissions for all ICT and Marshall‑related CIS installations.

Lastly, you will seek opportunities for business development and contribute to continuous improvement across SCIDA service delivery.

What you'll do:

  • Act as the SCIDA Engineer at sites as directed by Head of Air SCIDA, serving as subject matter expert for policy aspects related to Navaid and communications equipment during Project Marshall installation and recovery phases.
  • Provide dedicated guidance on ECR processes, installation standards, and policy requirements across associated workstreams and activities.
  • Accept responsibility for tasks and issues assigned by Air SCIDA Management, Site Engineers, Marshall DT, RAF Digital or Aquila, including supporting siting boards, special meetings and surveys.
  • Complete initial scrutiny of designs to identify site‑specific and generic issues before passing ECRs for formal review.
  • Support SCIDA Engineers with post‑installation inspections, working with installers to agree rectification actions where required.
  • Identify non‑compliances in design, installation standards or policy, informing Air SCIDA teams, project leads, main contractors and subcontractors.
  • Provide briefings, presentations and updates to SCIDA Engineers and site staff on identified issues.
  • Undertake related tasks as directed by RAF Digital, 2Gp ATM ERO or Head of Air SCIDA.
  • Contribute to Engineering Staff Instructions, SCIDA documentation and relevant presentations.
  • Attend ECR review meetings and engineering boards as needed.
  • Demonstrate confidence and the ability to operate independently across a diverse estate.
  • Provide support to SCIDA Site Engineers and assist with Technical Advisor activities within your AOR.
  • Identify cost savings or business efficiencies to strengthen contract delivery.
  • Undertake site and facility assessments to determine SCIDA support requirements, producing basic costings where necessary.
  • Provide specialist engineering or project management expertise as needed.
  • Deliver subject‑matter knowledge on specific safety or engineering topics (e.g., confined spaces, working at height, electrical cabinet certification).
  • Produce engineering reports or case studies on specialist topics.
  • Estimate SCIDA requirements and cost impacts for pan‑estate or exceptional projects, advising Head of Air SCIDA accordingly.
  • Provide inputs to Quarterly Progress Reports and complete all periodic mandatory training.
  • Fulfil responsibilities within the PDR process and provide cover for other AORs as required.
  • Maintain SCIDA site office continuity packs for business assurance.
  • Identify additional business opportunities and raise them with Head of Air SCIDA.
  • Pursue relevant professional development (e.g., CEng, IEng, NVQs).
  • Maintain awareness of Telent's business drivers and how Network Services teams operate.
  • Support assessment of new or additional projects and their impact on estate‑wide service delivery.

Who you are:

You're a technically strong, analytical and highly organised engineer with recent SCIDA experience and a solid understanding of MOD infrastructure standards. You bring confidence when advising on compliance, enjoy resolving complex engineering issues and have the communication skills to influence senior stakeholders. You thrive in an environment that requires independence, judgement and collaboration across multiple sites, and you are committed to maintaining the integrity and safety of critical operational systems.

Key attributes:

  • Completion of CIDA Foundation Courses (mandatory for engineers and TAs)
  • Strong written documentation and technical reporting skills
  • Confident delivering briefs and presentations to senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and engineering standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites
  • Experience in compliance, inspection and engineering assurance
  • Design, management or maintenance experience of MOD CIS/ICT/ATM systems
  • Awareness of Crypto, TEMPEST and associated protective measures
  • Working knowledge of JSP 440, JSP 453, DICTIS, JSP 375, relevant UK BS/SIs and SDIP‑29/2
  • SC Clearance required
