About the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our experienced and stable team of IROs dedicated to improving outcomes for children subject to Child Protection Plans.

As a Child Protection Case Conference Chair in Bury, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding children by leading Child Protection Conferences that are childcentred, rigorous, and outcomefocused. You will ensure that each conference provides a clear, analytical forum for understanding risk, agreeing robust protection plans, and promoting improved outcomes for children and young people.

A core part of your role will be to make sure children’s voices, wishes, and experiences are central to all decisionmaking. Wherever possible, you will ensure that parents, carers, and family members are included in the process in a respectful, transparent, and meaningful way, supporting their participation and promoting partnership working.

Building constructive relationships with children, young people, and families will be fundamental to your practice. You will meet or make direct contact with children prior to their conferences to understand their views and ensure these are accurately represented. You will maintain professional oversight of Child Protection Plans between conferences, working closely with social workers and managers to ensure plans progress at pace and remain focused on reducing risk.

As a Child Protection Chair in Bury, you will be a confident, independent safeguarding professional who is able to challenge, support, and influence practice across the partnership. Your contribution will help ensure our work remains focused on safety, permanence, and the lived experience of every child we serve.
