Your new company
You will be joining Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service (NICTS) within the Finance Branch as A Staff Officer Accountant. NICTS plays a vital role in supporting the administration of justice across Northern Ireland, operating within a highly regulated public sector environment. The Finance Branch is responsible for ensuring strong financial governance, statutory compliance, and accountability across the organisation.
Your new role
As a Staff Officer Accountant within the Accountability, Governance and Projects Team, you will support the DP Accountant in delivering core finance activities, with a particular focus on statutory reporting and financial governance. This is a key role ensuring NICTS meets all departmental and statutory deadlines.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the planning and preparation of the statutory NICTS Trust Statement
- Liaising with stakeholders including PSNI, Fixed Penalty Office and Fine Collection Service
- Commissioning and reviewing inputs for the Agency Annual Report and Governance Statement
- Completing month and year-end journals and reconciliations
- Trust Statement bank account reconciliations
- Supporting internal and external audit activity
- Investigating matches for the National Fraud Initiative
- Managing FPO telebanking transfers
- Reviewing agency cash receipts in line with Anti Money Laundering guidance
- Administration of monthly CFER pay-over and surrender of confiscation monies
- Undertaking ad-hoc financial governance duties as required
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- To be an active, paying member of an accredited accountancy body (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- To meet the criteria for the Staff Officer Accountant role as specified in the contract
- Strong Excel proficiency
- The ability to work accurately to tight deadlines within a regulated environment
Desirable experience includes:
- Public sector accounting experience
- Experience using Account NI and/or ICOS
What you'll get in return

- £24.04 - £25.01 per hour (circa £41,272 per annum)
- Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, 3 days from home
- Flexi-time with flexible start and finish times
- 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday
