Role: Farm Hand
Location: Wessex Lodge School, Frome, Somerset BA11 4LA
Salary: £5,512.00 per annum / £13.25 per hour
Hours: 8 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday
Rota: Saturday 4 hours | Sunday 4 hours (Potential for additional hours during school holidays or service growth)
Contract: Permanent | 52 weeks

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Farm Hand to join the Wessex Lodge team. This hands-on role focuses on caring for our farm animals across weekends and some school holidays, ensuring their welfare, safety, and the smooth running of farm operations. You will also contribute to the wider school community and pupil engagement with the farm.

Key Responsibilities:

Care for and monitor the health of animals, liaising with staff and vets as needed
Undertake practical tasks such as feeding, fencing, driving farm vehicles, and operating machinery
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and school policies
Keep accurate records and provide clear handovers to weekday staff
Support pupils’ engagement in farm activities and outdoor learning
What to Expect:

Outdoor work in all weathers
Some periods of independent working during weekends
Opportunities for professional development in areas such as Outdoor Education, Horticulture, Forest School, and more
About You

You will have:

A full UK Driving Licence
Hands-on farming experience and technical knowledge
A flexible, collaborative approach and willingness to work alongside staff, parents, and professionals
Commitment to supporting pupils and the wider school environment
