Are you ready to play a key role in shaping and safeguarding the future of our travel, development and public spaces to support growth in Bexley?
Two of London’s Opportunity Areas fall within the borough, and this is an exciting time for managing how Bexley’s development potential will be realised.
We’re looking for a skilled and proactive individual to join our dynamic Transport & Development team, which covers the full spectrum from setting travel policy and undertaking transport projects as well to undertaking the highway development control function.
You’ll be assisting with the preparation of local strategy documents and commissioning transport projects, as well as assessing planning applications and approving developers’ off-site works and travel-related initiatives to deliver the necessary initiatives.
You will help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and external partners, particularly to establish how required infrastructure will be secured.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
A HND (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Solid technical experience in transport planning or highways development
Sharp numerical and measurement skills and a rational approach to problem solving
Effective communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
Competency with ICT systems and technical tools, including Microsoft Office and preferably junction modelling and AutoCAD software.

Candidate Profile
This is a Career Grade post and an excellent opportunity, whether you are an experienced practitioner or someone starting out on their technical career, especially if you’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced, environment and approach each task with confidence and a solutions-driven mindset.
Degree level or equivalent qualification in a transport-related discipline or in highway / civil engineering, with at least 5 years post qualification experience for the higher grades
