Service Engineer – Nurse-Call Systems
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Service Engineer specialising in Nurse-Call Systems to support NHS and healthcare clients throughout the UK. This role focuses on the installation, servicing, and maintenance of Mediplan critical patient communication systems in hospitals, mental health units, and community healthcare settings. You will ensure systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational in line with HTM 08-03 and wider NHS technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, commission, and maintain nurse-call systems across NHS and private healthcare sites nationally.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs with minimal disruption to clinical operations.
• Conduct planned preventative maintenance in accordance with HTM 08-03 and Trust-specific protocols.
• Provide technical support, system training, and guidance to estates teams, ward staff, and clinical leads.
• Produce accurate service reports, asset logs, and compliance documentation for audit purposes.
• Work collaboratively with NHS Estates, Capital Projects, and external contractors.
• Ensure all work adheres to NHS safety procedures, infection control requirements, and site access protocols.
Requirements
• Proven experience working with nurse-call or extra-low-voltage healthcare communication systems.
• The ability to work out of town for long periods of time often with overnight hotel stays
• Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding skills.
• Understanding of HTM 08-03 and other relevant healthcare engineering standards.
• Experience working on NHS sites or within healthcare environments.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently across multiple Trust locations.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Engineering qualifications (NVQ, ONC, HNC, or equivalent).
