We are seeking to appoint an Asset Inspector to support the delivery of the Flood asset work across Cumbria. In this role you will ensure our assets remain safe, effective and resilient while supporting future investment planning.
You will be expected to manage your own workload and work flexibly according to the demands of the role, with support from colleagues.
Knowing the condition of our assets underpins our risk-based approach to asset management. The information is used to help us plan our work and target our resources.
You will be collecting data on Flood assets out on site and carrying out visual inspections to determine asset condition, identify issues and liaise with colleagues about these defects. You will do desk-based processing of the data in our asset management information system.
This role will include:
• Being out on-site inspecting Flood assets across Cumbria, this would be roughly 80% of your time.
• Managing your own Health & Safety
• Lone working
• Following guidance and procedures
• Processing and cleansing asset data
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake an incident role; training will be provided. Please see the candidate pack for more on how will support with this.
The team
You’ll join our West Cumbria and Eden Asset Performance Team. We lead on managing flood risk assets across multiple communities in Cumbria.
We are a dynamic, adaptable and inclusive team. You will be required to be flexible and adapt your ways of working according to changing guidance and new evidence.
You will work with several different teams and attend sites across the whole of Cumbria.
Experience/skills required
Essential:
• Full UK Driving Licence to access all the sites across Cumbria. A vehicle will be provided for business use.
• Ability to manage your own workload
• Good communication skills
It would be helpful, but not essential if you had:
• An awareness of Health, Safety & Wellbeing especially linked to lone working.
• Proficiency in IT and a confidence in managing data, this will mostly be done using an iPad and internal systems
• An ability to use Microsoft Teams
• An ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
• Deliver work by planning, tracking, gathering and maintaining data/information
• An interest in helping create a nation resilient to climate change
You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided to develop and improve on these skills and many others.
