(Salary scale 5-6, £30,333-£35,772 + market rate £5000 supplement per annum, plus additional allowances)

Our Support Service functions work in collaboration across North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, providing vital shared expertise to deliver efficient and effective service to our communities.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Vehicle Technician (Heavy) to join our team.
As a Vehicle Technician, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and servicing our fleet of heavy vehicles (greater than 7.5 tonnes), ensuring they are safe, reliable, and ready to support frontline emergency operations. You’ll work closely with transport leadership team and colleagues across the organisation to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services that meet key performance indicators and service level agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out servicing, inspections, repairs, and planned maintenance
Respond to service requests and attend breakdowns, providing both static and mobile support
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational procedures
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and vehicle data
Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve service outcomes
Contribute to service improvements and participate in key projects and initiatives
What we’re looking for:
Relevant qualifications in heavy vehicle maintenance and experience in a high-volume environment
Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of statutory legislation and standards related to transport management (desirable)
Full current driving licence including L.G.V Category C licence)
Familiarity with Health & Safety practices in a workshop setting
