Secondary School Cover Supervisor (Supply)

Location: Various Secondary Schools across West Sussex

The Opportunity: Lead, Inspire, and Support

Are you looking for a dynamic role that utilises your excellent communication skills and natural confidence-without the need for a teaching qualification? We are seeking enthusiastic, assertive, and adaptable individuals to join our supply team as Cover Supervisors across West Sussex.

This role is the perfect "classroom immersion" for aspiring teachers, recent graduates, or professionals looking for a flexible, rewarding role working with young people.

Your Impact: Classroom Management & Support

As a Supply Cover Supervisor, you are the key to maintaining education continuity. You won't be required to plan lessons or mark work; your focus is on leadership and presence. Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Leadership: Oversee lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring students remain on-task with work set by the department.

  • Behaviour Management: Confidently implement each school's specific behaviour policy to maintain a positive and orderly atmosphere.

  • Student Support: Help students access pre-set materials and stay engaged, providing general guidance without needing to be a subject specialist.

  • Detailed Reporting: Register attendance and leave accurate notes for the returning teacher regarding lesson progress and student conduct.

  • Professionalism: Adapt quickly to different school environments, acting as a positive role model and upholding high expectations.

What We Are Looking For

We value personality and presence. You'll be a great fit if you have:

  • Confidence: The ability to lead a room and manage secondary-age students with a firm but fair approach.

  • Adaptability: The skill to walk into a new school environment and build rapport with students and staff instantly.

  • Experience: Previous work with groups of young people (coaching, youth work, or school support) is highly beneficial.

  • Education: A degree is advantageous, particularly for those considering future teacher training (PGCE/SCITT).

  • Logistics: As you will be working in various schools across West Sussex, reliability and a proactive approach to travel are essential.

Why Join Our Supply Team?
  • Unrivalled Experience: Gain exposure to a wide variety of school settings-ideal preparation for a career in education.

  • Flexibility: Enjoy a role that works around your schedule while providing vital support to the local community.

  • Competitive Pay: Receive a competitive daily rate for your expertise and commitment.

Safeguarding: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references before commencing work.
