As a Press Brake Operator, you’ll be responsible for setting, programming, and operating CNC press brakes to manufacture a wide range of components. You’ll work from detailed engineering drawings, manage your own folding sequences, and ensure all parts meet quality and production requirements. The Press Brake Operator role suits someone comfortable taking ownership of their work and maintaining high standards across safety, accuracy, and housekeeping.
Key responsibilities of the Press Brake Operator include:
- Setting up press brake tooling and loading the correct programs
- Writing and adjusting folding sequences where required
- Reading and working from engineering drawings and works orders
- Inspecting, correcting, and identifying folded parts
- Moving components safely, including use of overhead cranes
- Maintaining housekeeping, safety checks, and production targets
Essential skills and experience for the Press Brake Operator:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working as a Press Brake Operator
- Experience operating CNC press brakes, ideally Bystronic
- Ability to write your own press brake programs
- Strong understanding of quality, H&S, and safe systems of work
- Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Level 2 (or equivalent)
- Good IT skills and a solid level of written and spoken English
Desirable experience for the Press Brake Operator:
- Level 3 fabrication or welding qualification
- Experience using SMB Viewer
- Background handling large or complex fabrications
