We’re offering a rare and rewarding opportunity to start your career in care by joining the founding team of a brand-new, not-for-profit Children’s Residential Homes in Wimborne, Dorset.
This service will support children with learning disabilities and children who may have Emotional and social difficulties, offering a safe, nurturing, and empowering space where every child is given the opportunity to grow, thrive, and feel at home.

Your Role as a Team LeaderAs part of a team wholeheartedly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, you’ll provide consistent, compassionate support to children with learning disabilities and young people who may have suffered trauma (EBD)—helping them feel safe, valued, and empowered. You will:
· Build trusting, positive relationships with children and young people
· Support daily routines – from school runs and mealtimes to play and bedtime
· Help children learn life skills and build their independence
· Work as part of a team to ensure children feel safe, secure, and cared for
· Support with writing care plans, routines, and completing risk assessments for the home and young people along with other additional responsibilities such as leading shifts
· Working flexibly over 7 days a week 365 days a year.
· Handle challenging behaviour calmly and with empathy, using a therapeutic approach
· Take part in fun, active days – every day is different!
· Be part of the sleep-in rota, with an average of 4 sleep-ins per month (flexibility is essential)
· Conduct supervisions of staff and be part of the running of team meetings
About YouWe’re looking for people who are caring, reliable, and motivated to make a difference. You will be confident in leading a team and caring for our young people. You will:
- Confidence to run shifts over the weekends, and throughout the week when needed.
- Understanding of the Quality Standards or have knowledge about them
- Support and amend risk assessments where needed.
- Support children and team with challenging behaviour.
- Plan and take part in activities out in the community
- Build trust with the team, children and other professionals.
- Work as part of a therapeutic team and encourage the staff to do the same.
- Be part of a sleep in rota to support the needs of the home, flexibility is essential.
- Hold a valid UK driving licence (dual registered home across 2 sites in Wimborne)
- Support education, school runs, home learning.
- Need to hold, or be working towards the end of level 3/4 or above.
- Hold a minimum of 12 months Right to Work in the UK
