Job Purpose To work as part of the Leg Ulcer Clinic Team providing support to patients and the team. To undertake delegated tasks and work without supervision where appropriate, reporting back to the responsible clinician. Dimensions To perform various clinical procedures within a clinic setting which could include, recording TPR, B/P and recording ankle brachial pressure readings To provide wound and skin care within the clinic, removing bandages, cleaning wounds andapplying treatments to wounds and skin To apply non- complex compression bandaging To check and order supplies for use within the service To maintain clinical care records according to organisational policy To ensure treatment areas are prepared and stocked on a daily basis To assist in the maintenance of ensuring the environment is clean at all times To ensure communication is maintained with patients, carers and the LUC team throughout the patients attendance at the LUC ensuring a high level of customer care is delivered consistently To provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors and carers presenting to the UCC Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties To assess client needs and ensure safe transfer into clinic To be competent to remove bandages and dressings safely and appropriately wash wounds and skin on the lower limb following instructions on the care plan To observe confidentiality and maintain a professional image at all times To ensure clinical environments for self and others are prepared and maintained according to Health and Safety and Infection Control policies in addition to local protocols. Training sessions, including in-service training to take every reasonable opportunity to develop, improve and maintain clinical skills and knowledge. Mentorship of other colleagues as appropriate to the role. To deliver wound and skin care with competent application of paste bandages and compression bandages following instructions on the care plan To report any concerns during procedures or wound observation to the registered nurse Administrative Duties To provide a service to patients, families and carers attending clinic answering enquiries in a helpful or welcoming manner as required. To record client information on System One as appropriate. To work with team to facilitate ordering, distribution and maintenance of equipment. To work with team to facilitate continued development of a needs-led patient focussed service. To participate in day to day activities required to ensure smooth running of the service. To participate in audit/research activity as required. To assist the Leg Ulcer Clinic lead with appointment allocation Personal Responsibilities To act in accordance with and promote the City Care values at all times To act as an ambassador for the Leg ulcer Clinic Service at all times To be committed to providing a high level of customer service and patient experience Maintain professional awareness and attend appropriate training as necessary To participate in the appraisal process and development of own Personal Development Plan . To liaise with other Agencies as appropriate to ensure comprehensive and collaborative care for service users.
