Recovery Worker

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Salary: £18-20 per hour Umbrella

Contract: Temporary 6-8 weeks

Are you passionate about supporting people to make positive life changes? We're looking for a motivated Recovery Worker in Stoke-on-Trent to join our multi-disciplinary team and help individuals move forward in their treatment and recovery journey.

In this role, you'll be a key point of contact for service users-from their first engagement through to ongoing recovery support. You'll help people reduce drug and alcohol-related harm, access the right services, strengthen their wellbeing, and reconnect with their communities.

What You'll do as a Recovery Worker

  • Support service users from entry into the service through every stage of their recovery.
  • Carry out assessments, screening and recovery planning using motivational techniques.
  • Coordinate personalised packages of care, including psychosocial interventions, 1:1 key work, group work, clinical input and harm reduction.
  • Complete ongoing risk assessments, reviews and referrals to specialist or community services.
  • Promote harm minimisation, provide education around blood-borne viruses and overdose prevention, and support access to needle exchange and naloxone (training provided).
  • Build recovery capital by linking people with peer support, mutual aid and community resources.
  • Work closely with health services, GPs, hospitals and other partners to ensure joined-up care.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the service, including ad-hoc reception, duty and clinical support.

What You'll Bring as a Recovery Worker

  • Experience of working with people affected by substance use or other complex needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting, supportive relationships.
  • Confidence in managing risk and supporting people with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • A proactive, creative approach to engagement-especially with underrepresented communities.
