Hull City Psychological Service is seeking to recruit a Trainee Educational Psychologist to become a valued member of a collaborative team with a focus on delivering high quality psychological services across the city. We are a highly regarded service within the local authority, and we have strong links with Sheffield, Newcastle and Nottingham Universities through the placement of Trainee Educational Psychologists with us.
Hull City Psychological Service is committed to transforming lives through psychology and making positive change possible. You will be encouraged to be innovative and reflective in your practice as well as sharing in and communicating our vision and values. You will deliver our core offer across the city with extensive opportunities for project and development work in our traded element with the Virtual School. This is a great opportunity to develop your practice whilst experiencing excellent supervision and peer support. We are very keen to promote the use of systemic ideas within our practice and would welcome applicants who would also like to develop their skills in a relational way.
You can expect dedicated admin support; full use of IT services including the latest equipment; accessible and free car parking on most sites with reduced price parking passes for the City Centre. Mileage is reimbursed at HMRC business rates or you may prefer to take advantage of our Cycle to work or car schemes. Under the Work Smart scheme remote working is encouraged but we also have a well-appointed office near the city centre which is frequently used by the team. All applicants receive a comprehensive induction programme from a senior member of the team with orientation provided by peers. There is an excellent Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and a Relocation Allowance for newly appointed staff moving from outside the area.
We would welcome applications from Trainees entering either Year 2 or Year 3 of the Doctorate Training programme in September 2026/7 with an expectation that you will be registered with the HCPC upon completion of training.
For an informal discussion please contact Lisa Stanley (Principal Educational Psychologists) on 01482 614 258 or email lisa.stanley@hullcc.gov.uk
Please ensure that your application demonstrates how you meet the essential criteria against the person specification as listed in the job description.
