Role Overview:
Our client, a global leader in anti-submarine warfare (ASW) solutions, is looking for an experienced Electronics Test Engineer to work in a contract position on an ongoing project involving tests on manufactured products using predefined test procedures. Based at the client’s state-of-the-art facility in High Wycombe (postcode is HP10 9SD)
This is a shopfloor, production test role supporting operations in a high-reliability, regulated environment.
You’ll be responsible for setting up and running production tests on a variety of electronic and electromechanical products, following documented procedures, and completing test documentation. The work is project-based, with new systems and products coming through regularly — it’s not repetitive end-of-line testing.
Rate: £30 p/hour PAYE *role is INSIDE IR35*
ly 6 months (scope for extension)
What you’ll be doing:
• Setting up test equipment and carrying out production testing in line with defined test procedures
• Testing a range of electronic boards, interfaces, cables and multi-servo systems
• Using some ATE / test interfaces as part of the production test environment
• Fault-finding test failures and feeding back to Production and Manufacturing Engineering to support process improvements
• Raising MRBs / defect reports where required
• Supporting other members of the Test team and working to production deadlines
• Maintaining and repairing test equipment where necessary
Core Duties:
• Perform tests on manufactured products using predefined test procedures.
• Collect and document test results accurately for analysis.
• Identify failures and anomalies during testing and report findings to the Test Systems Engineer.
• Conduct environmental, functional, and stress testing as required.
• Set up and configure test equipment according to test specifications.
• Perform routine calibration and maintenance on test systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with test setups before escalating to the Test Systems Engineer.
• Run automated test scripts developed by the Test Systems Engineer.
• Provide feedback on the effectiveness and reliability of automated test sequences.
• Assist in debugging and refining automated test processes.
• Identify potential issues in test processes and suggest improvements.
• Work closely with manufacturing and quality teams to diagnose failures.
• Escalate complex issues to the Test Systems Engineer for deeper analysis.
• Follow established testing protocols and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure all testing activities are documented in compliance with industry and company standards.
• Maintain accurate logs of test results, equipment usage, and issues encountered.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure seamless testing within the manufacturing flow.
• Assist in training production personnel on test procedures and equipment usage.
• Provide real-time feedback to the Test Systems Engineer on test system performance.
• Suggest improvements to test procedures based on hands-on experience.
• Participate in test development discussions with the Test Systems Engineer.
• Stay updated on new test methodologies and best practices in the industry.
Experience they’re looking for
• Prior electronic test experience ESSENTIAL
• Inspection standard accreditation such as IPC 610/620, J-Std etc would be highly beneficial
• Hands-on electronics or electromechanical test experience
• Experience working in a controlled / regulated environment such as aerospace, defence, medical or similar high-reliability industries
• Comfortable following formal test procedures and completing documentation
• Fault-finding skills across electronic assemblies and systems
• RF exposure is beneficial but not essential
• Candidates with electronics testing experience in regulated environments will stand out strongly.
