Crynodeb
Be responsible for delivering specialist Speech and Language Therapy input to adults with complex acquired communication disorders and dysphagia as a consequence of traumatic brain injury and progressive neurological illnesses. They will identify, assess and diagnose communication / swallowing impairments and select the appropriate intervention approach for effective, evidence-based therapy. Work within the multi-disciplinary team and be involved in multi-disciplinary meetings, supporting planning of appropriate therapy and discharges from the unit. Make independent decisions about caseload management. Provide second opinions to less experienced colleagues. Gain extensive clinical experience and expertise to improve and further develop specialist skills through training, support and independent study. Independently receive students on placement for clinical teaching and supervision. Be responsible for the supervision of junior colleagues and assistants with support from senior staff as required. Provide necessary cover for the caseloads of other Speech and Language Therapists during periods of annual / sick leave.
