1. Professional and statutory Obligations Ensure personal practice and that of those supervised adheres to relevant Codes of Conduct, legislation and policies and procedures. Take responsibility for maintaining professional registration and for personal and professional development in accordance with NMC guidance, attending statutory and mandatory training and other pertinent training as agreed with the clinical manager through the personal review process. Ensuring that the shift is run in an efficient manner and that clinical need is prioritised and acted upon appropriately. Reaching decisions based upon, knowledge of the clinical area and patient group, available resources (including level and skill of staff group) assessment of level of risk and relevant policies and procedures. Act as change agent, develop practice through evidence / action research. Management of all aspects of the change process, ensuring that significant others are fully engaged and that positive change is reviewed, evaluated and communicated both within the immediate team and more widely within the organisation. Management of staff for the duration of a span of duty, providing supervision and support to junior staff. Acting as mentor or preceptor as and where appropriate. Motivating other staff, promoting positive values, challenging inappropriate behaviour and negative attitudes. Provide feedback on performance and report any incidents of misconduct in accordance with relevant procedures. Ensure effective and accurate communication both during the span of duty and any subsequent changes. Ensure that communication is maintained within the wider clinical team and where necessary with other agencies or individuals. Aspects of staff management as agreed with the clinical manager.
