ABOUT US
We are a small social housing co-operative providing safe, affordable homes and promoting cooperative, community-led living. Our work is guided by values of respect, fairness, shared responsibility, and member involvement.
We are looking for a practical, approachable Housing & Community Support Worker to support the care of our properties, assist members, and help with day-to-day administration.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a varied, hands-on role combining caretaking, community support, and administration. You will help ensure our homes are safe and well maintained while supporting positive relationships and cooperative living within our housing community.
The role is well suited to someone who enjoys practical work, working with people and on their own, and being part of a small, values-led organisation. Due to the nature of the business, we require people who are empathetic to people’s needs and situations and can work without prejudice. You will be working in Ashington and reporting to the manager and finance worker based in Sunderland via email, telephone and where necessary in person

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry out periodic checks of properties, shared areas, and outdoor spaces
• Report and follow up on repairs with contractors
• Help prepare properties for new members
• Act as a friendly and approachable point of contact for members
• Support cooperative living and help resolve day-to-day housing issues
• Encourage member involvement and community participation
• Maintain basic records of repairs, inspections, and member matters
• Assist with housing administration and correspondence
• Support health and safety checks and report concerns
• Report to Head Office in Sunderland

ABOUT YOU
Essential:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
• Basic administration and record-keeping skills
• Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Commitment to cooperative values and community housing
Desirable:
• Experience in social housing or housing co-operatives
• Experience in community or tenant support roles
• Basic IT skills (email, Word, spreadsheets)
