Are you passionate about helping children and young people reach their full potential? We're looking for an enthusiastic Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team in the beautiful Tees Valley - a region that offers the perfect balance of career development and quality of life.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we have recently reconfigured to bring two teams together across the Tees Valley.

We're looking for a lead therapist who:

There is some flexibility in the base for this post, within the areas of Hartlepool, Stockton and Darlington.

You'll work within a supportive, forward thinking team, delivering a highly specialist speech & language therapy service to children and young people who stammer across the Tees Valley. You will work in a range of settings including:

Schools and nurseries

Hospitals and community clinics

Homes and virtual platforms



South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust now form University Hospitals Tees and as such you may be required to work at any site across both Trusts.

To deliver highly specialist speech and language therapy to the caseload, including highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and intervention to complex disorders of communication where stammering is the primary need.

To provide highly specialist clinical advice and training to speech and language therapy staff, other professionals and agencies working with the caseload.

Generate appropriate strategies to manage an individual highly specialist caseload including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge.  

Develop and implement highly specialist care protocols and programmes of care and treatment, to meet the needs of clients in conjunction with their parents, carers, education staff and other members of the appropriate multi-disciplinary team (MDT). 

Independently manage and/or negotiate the management of complex cases with others e.g. onward referral to other highly specialist clinicians or other specialist support agencies or consultants as appropriate.

Ensure clients/families are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their care plans wherever possible.
