About the Client
Thurrock Catering Services provides Bronze Food for Life award‑winning lunchtime meals across 24 Primary Schools, 3 Secondary Schools and 2 Alternative Provision Academies, serving over one million meals each year. The service continues to expand, now including catering for Grangewaters Residential Groups and Holiday Activity Feeding Events. This is an opportunity to join a friendly, flexible, and community‑focused team supporting high‑quality school meal provision across the borough.

The Role
You will support the delivery of an excellent standard of food service to pupils and staff within school kitchens across Thurrock. The role requires the ability to organise, arrange and supervise kitchen and dining room activities, maintain high standards of food safety, and provide flexible cover across multiple school sites when required.

Key Responsibilities
Promote the Catering Service and support the team in keeping up to date with new products and legislation.

Assist the Head of Kitchen in delivering a high standard of service and customer care.

Prepare, cook, and serve food to required standards.

Support set‑up and clear‑down of the dining hall, including cleaning duties.

Adhere to all food safety and due diligence requirements.

Contribute to increasing meal uptake across the service.

Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in catering or hospitality.

A flexible, positive, ‘can‑do’ attitude with excellent customer care skills.

Ability to work across multiple school sites when required.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to support service delivery in a busy environment.

Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List clearance (essential).
