- Provide personalised support and assistance to students with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring they are able to actively participate in all aspects of the learning process.
- Work closely with teachers to develop and implement tailored lesson plans, learning activities, and assessment strategies that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Monitor and document student progress, collaborating with the teaching staff to identify areas for improvement and implement effective interventions.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, promoting the social, emotional, and behavioural development of students.
- Assist with the delivery of personal care and support, such as helping with mobility, feeding, and personal hygiene, as required.
- Participate in regular meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with the latest educational practices, policies, and strategies for supporting students with SEND.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to the overall assessment and reporting processes within the institution.
- A relevant qualification in teaching, education, or a related field, such as a Teaching Assistant Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning
- Experience working with children or young adults, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the holistic development of students
- Proficiency in using various assistive technologies and adaptive equipment to support student learning
