Long Term Futures are working in partnership with an Alternative Provision in Nottingham to appoint a passionate and resilient Unqualified English Teacher. This setting supports pupils who have struggled in mainstream education and provides a structured, nurturing environment focused on re-engagement, behaviour support, and academic progress.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong English subject knowledge and experience working with young people, who is looking to build a career in education without requiring qualified teacher status.
The Role:
- Deliver engaging English lessons to small groups of pupils at KS3 and KS4
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of learners with SEMH, behavioural challenges, or additional needs
- Plan lessons that re-engage pupils and build confidence in literacy skills
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and pastoral staff
- Maintain clear routines, boundaries, and high expectations
- Support safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive behaviour strategies
About You:
- Strong subject knowledge in English (degree or equivalent experience preferred)
- Experience working with young people, ideally in an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN, or similar setting
- Confident managing behaviour and building positive relationships
- Calm, consistent, and resilient approach to teaching
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils who need a different approach to learning
- A formal teaching qualification is not required.
