Summary
• To construct, assemble, maintain, and repair boilers.
• Align structures/plate sections in the assembly of boiler frame columns, ducting, stacks, tanks, and pipe support.
• To lay out plate/sheet or other heavy metal, locate bending and cutting lines.
• Utilising isometric and general arrangement drawings for the location and sub assembly of pipe supports.
• Determine position for supports and other equipment to be installed.
• Final welding of supports and other structural parts into position. (this will require you undertaking a welding test).
• Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures together.
• Study engineering drawings to determine locations, relationships, and dimensions of parts.
• Straighten or re-shape bent pressure vessel plates and structure parts.
• Position, align, and secure parts following engineering drawings.
• Shape and fabricate parts, such as flue stack sections, ducting, and chutes.
• Locate reference points for columns or plates on boiler foundations following blue prints.
