Support Worker
Alternative Movement / ALT Support
Location: Grays
About Us
Alternative Movement is a health, wellbeing, and movement-led organisation built on the belief that everyone has potential. Through functional training, community engagement, and person-centred support, we help individuals improve physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence, and independence.
ALT Support is our specialist support arm, providing day opportunities and community-based support to individuals with a range of disabilities and additional needs. Our work goes beyond traditional care — we support people to live active, meaningful lives through movement, structure, and inclusion. This includes community access, day trips, weekend breaks, and our invite-only community hub café.
The Role
We are looking for compassionate, reliable Support Workers to join our team. This role involves supporting individuals in day services, the community, and home-based settings, helping them to access activities safely while promoting independence, wellbeing, and confidence.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as the role includes transporting individuals to activities, appointments, and community outings.
Key Responsibilities
Provide person-centred support with daily living tasks such as personal care, dressing, and mobility
Support individuals to engage in movement-based, fitness, and community activities
Administer medication safely in line with care plans and company policy
Support with meal preparation and feeding where required
Provide emotional support and promote positive mental wellbeing
Implement behaviour support strategies when needed
Assist with light housekeeping to maintain safe environments
Support with mobility, transfers, and physical tasks (training provided)
Drive individuals safely to appointments, day trips, and activities
Monitor wellbeing and report any concerns promptly
Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and first aid procedures
What We’re Looking For
Full UK driving licence – essential
Experience in care, support work, or a similar role (desirable but not essential)
Confidence working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, or additional needs
Calm, empathetic, and reliable approach
Willingness to be active and engage in movement-based support
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Why Join Us?
Meaningful, rewarding work where you make a real difference
A supportive, values-driven team
Varied role — no two days the same
Ongoing training and development
Opportunity to work in a progressive, community-focused organisation
If you’re passionate about supporting people to live active, inclusive lives — and you’re a driver — we’d love to hear from you.
