Essential Requirements – Applications without these will not be considered
Proven experience supporting learners aged 16+ in a Further Education (FE) or post-16 setting.
A current Enhanced DBS certificate registered to the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one before starting.
Experience working with learners with SEND and/or EHCPs in post-16 education.
Confident supporting learners in classroom, small group, and 1:1 settings.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries in an FE environment.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Role Purpose
Support post-16 learners in lessons, small groups, and one-to-one sessions to enable full access to the curriculum and achievement of individual learning outcomes.
Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour in line with college policies and procedures.
Act as a professional role model, setting high expectations for learning, attendance, and conduct.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored learning support to named post-16 learners, including those with SEND, EHCPs, or additional support needs.
Support learners to understand tasks, manage workloads, develop study skills, and meet assignment deadlines.
Prepare and adapt learning materials to suit individual needs and course requirements.
Work collaboratively with lecturers, SEND teams, pastoral staff, external agencies, and parents/carers where appropriate.
Promote learner independence, self-advocacy, and employability skills.
Support learners during exams and assessments, including acting as a reader/scribe or invigilator where required.
Maintain accurate records of support provided and learner progress, in line with safeguarding and data protection requirements.
Assist with learner induction, transition, and progression planning.
Contribute to inclusive learning environments, including support in study centres, workshops, and practical sessions.
Undertake any additional duties as required to support the SEND and learner support teams.
