Location: Blackpool Rate of pay: £12.60 per hour. Shifts are 12 hours.

Contract type: Bank / Zero hour (Mainly working as cover for sickness, annual leave and doing some ad-hoc shifts)

The role:
We are looking for a reliable and dependable individual to join a small, dedicated team who support a gentleman who has Cerebral palsy. This is a bank / zero-hour position which would be ideal for someone looking to pick up extra shifts around another job. Be aware that you would be mainly covering annual leave and sickness absence. Annual leave cover will be advised with 4 week or more notice, but sickness cover will be at short notice. Please keep this in mind when applying for the job. There will also be occasional extra shifts on offer outside of covering leave or sickness. Shifts will either be 8am – 8pm or 8pm – 8am depending on what needs to be covered. The 8pm – 8am are not waking shifts, you will have time to sleep.

About the individual:
The gentleman who requires support lives in his own home in Blackpool. He has a sense of humour and enjoys going out for social drinks and watching shows. He has Cerebral palsy which affects his mobility and speech. The aim of this role is to act as his arms and legs enabling him to live independently on his own terms.

Key Responsibilities:
Task vary depending on if it is a day shift 8am – 8pm or a night shift 8pm – 8am.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Personal Care: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting while demonstrating dignity and respect.

Mobility: Helping the gentleman get around his own home by physically supporting him while he walks or using a manual push wheelchair when out of the house.

Daily living: Meal preparation and feeding, domestic duties such as doing laundry, hoovering, administering medication.

Social Support: Driving the gentleman around the community, to any social events or to any appointments.

Companionship: Being a friendly presence while respecting the gentlemen’s privacy.

Requirements:
Reliability: As a bank staff member reliability and dependability is paramount especially around sickness cover.

Driving licence: A Full clean UK driving licence is preferred but not essential. The gentleman has his own car you would use for driving tasks when on shift.

Checks: The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

This is a relaxed domestic working environment, not a hospital, care home or other care setting. You will be trained specifically to support the gentleman. The gentleman you support is the employer; successful applicants are not employed by a care company or agency. This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference in someone’s daily life.

How to apply:
Please send your CV to Martinsyates1965@gmail.com with a brief cover letter explaining about yourself and why you are interested in the role. Please use the phrase BANK WORKER ROLE on the subject line. Please note the post is subject to a probationary period and references will be requested.
