What skills and experience we're looking for
Transforming the life chances of children in Torbay begins with exceptional teachers.
At Torquay Academy, we are building a team united by a shared belief: everyone succeeds. We believe every student who joins us is capable of progressing to university or an equally aspirational future, and we design our curriculum, systems and culture around that conviction.
We are seeking a Teacher of Art to join our Creative Arts faculty from September 2026. The ability to teach Art to GCSE is essential. The ability to teach Photography at GCSE and/or A level is desirable. This role is suitable for an experienced teacher or an outstanding Early Career Teacher.
Why join us?
Creative Arts play a vital role in developing confidence, identity and pride in achievement. Our Creative Arts faculty includes Art, Photography, Drama, Music and Music Technology and is highly collaborative, practical and ambitious for students.
All students study a rich Arts curriculum throughout Key Stage 3, with strong uptake at GCSE. Student work is celebrated through exhibitions, performances and a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities.
We believe great teaching flourishes in calm, purposeful environments. Teachers are supported by strong, centralised behaviour systems and an effective pastoral team. We actively reduce unnecessary workload and invest in staff through high-quality CPD, 1-to-1 coaching and leadership development.
Is this role right for you?
If you believe that every child can succeed, that creativity and high expectations belong together, and that schools exist to transform lives, we would warmly encourage you to apply.

We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring checks along with other relevant employment checks.
