Your new company
A rapidly growing and innovative energy solutions business is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to set up and run their procurement function. Due to sustained growth, the company is now investing in a dedicated procurement head to sit within their friendly team to help them deliver value for money, manage supply chain risk and develop supplier relationships.
Your new role
Working as the company's standalone Procurement Manager, you'll take ownership of day‑to‑day procurement delivery while shaping the long‑term evolution of tools, processes and best practice. This will include running end‑to‑end sourcing for construction packages, installation works, specialist equipment and contractors, as well as leading tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award processes.
You will also manage supplier relationships across technical and construction focused categories.
Since you will be the company's sole point of contact within Procurement, you will also complete administrative tasks such as overseeing contract administration, renewals and requesting/uploading supplier information onto the system.
The Procurement Manager will strengthen the early procurement framework already in place, ensuring tools, templates and processes scale effectively, and you will also drive commercial improvements around cost, value engineering, contracting standards and supplier risk. You will support the development of responsible sourcing and ESG‑aligned practices.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS ROLE IS HOME-BASED WITH TRAVEL TO MEET WITH STAKEHOLDERS AND VISITS TO THE OFFICE IN LIVERPOOL CITY CENTRE.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience procuring works, services or equipment within construction, engineering or industrial environments.
- Experience of sourcing and managing subcontractor spend.
- Proven experience of setting up / building a procurement function from the ground up.
- Strong commercial acumen and confident negotiation skills.
- Ability to operate independently as the sole procurement professional.
- Comfortable improving early-stage processes and building maturity as the business scales.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to meet with stakeholders and contractors.
What you'll get in return
- Competitive salary between £55,000-70,000 depending on experience.
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
- Pension, private medical cover and death‑in‑service benefits.
- Home‑based working with flexible travel.
- Opportunity to shape a crucial function in a growing, forward‑thinking business.
- Chance to make a direct impact on projects that drive decarbonisation, cost reduction and energy resilience across major industries.
