Lead Assembly Technician

Location: Coventry (CV6)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00
Salary: £27,500 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

The Best Connection is recruiting a Lead Assembly Technician on behalf of a manufacturing and technology business based in Coventry (CV6). This is a newly created role within a new team, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape assembly processes and take ownership of day-to-day operations.

Role Overview

The Lead Assembly Technician will be responsible for high-quality mechanical and electrical assembly work, supporting production, quality, and continuous improvement activities. The role includes hands-on assembly as well as leadership responsibilities, including training and supporting new team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components in line with standard operating procedures and quality requirements

  • Prepare and assemble complex wiring and sub-systems, including harness routing and PCB connections

  • Carry out approved modifications, rework, and repairs

  • Support the setup and improvement of new assembly processes alongside Engineering and Manufacturing teams

  • Ensure rework is completed by authorised personnel and meets quality standards

  • Follow up on non-conformance reports (NCRs) to prevent recurrence

  • Lead assembly operations and deliver training to new personnel

  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities

  • Adhere to Quality, Risk Management, Environmental, ISO, and Health & Safety procedures

  • Complete general production tasks as required to support efficiency

Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven experience in mechanical or electrical assembly within a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering documentation

  • Competent using hand and power tools, torque wrenches, and measuring equipment

  • Experience working within ISO9001 or similar quality-controlled environments

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

  • Effective communication skills and a team-focused approach

  • Good time management and ability to prioritise tasks

  • Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements in production settings

  • Comply with all safe working practices, procedures, and instructions

  • Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others

  • Wear personal protective equipment where required

  • Report hazards, near misses, accidents, and incidents immediately

  • Follow all reasonable management directions relating to health, safety, and the environment
