Summary
Secondary Science Teacher Location: Chorley
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Hours: 0900 - 1500
Pay: £160 - £200 P/D

We are looking for a qualified Science Teacher for a well-regarded SEMH alternative provision in Chorley to engage small classes of young people with Science. You will have responsibility for establishing student benchmarks and engaging them in lessons that suit their needs.
These students operate at a lower attainment level than expected for their age, you will be required to teach all areas of science but the focus is ensuring your lessons are tailored to the needs of the students.
This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher looking to have some freedom around their approach to teaching. You must hold Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) to be eligible for this position.
This position is also temp-to-perm, with a contract offered if the placement is successful.
This school supports secondary aged students, some of which are on EHCPs.
Due to the nature of the students, you must be comfortable managing emotional dysregulation, challenging behaviour, and additional needs including ASD, ADHD & Anxiety.
This provision brings a strong therapeutic approach, rather than a punitive one.
Your Role as an Science Teacher
As an Science Teacher, you will:
- Inspire and engage young people into education
- Monitor and assess student attainment
- Create and deliver lessons to suit the needs of the class
- Manage and support the needs of your students
- Maintain classroom stability, and manage the behaviour of small groups
- Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive school environment
We're Looking For
- Qualified Teaching Status (QTS)
- Experience working within alternative provisions, ideally with SEMH students
- The ability to work independently, and have a strong understanding of curriculum
- A proactive and patient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- Robust and comfortable with challenging behaviour
