Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced Chef to join our client’s team within an adult care home setting in Leicester (LE3).
**About the Role
This is an agency position, with ad-hoc shifts available as and when the care home requires additional support. There may be an opportunity for regular, set hours in the future for the right candidate.
Shifts are available Monday to Sunday, typically between 11:00am and 6:00pm. Due to the flexible nature of agency work, you will have the freedom to choose shifts that fit around your other commitments.
*Role Responsibilities
You will be fully responsible for meal provision during your shift, including:
1. Preparing, cooking, plating, and distributing meals for residents
2. Ensuring meals are nutritious, well-presented, and meet all dietary and nutritional requirements within the home
3. Maintaining high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene at all times
4. Carrying out all required health, safety, and food hygiene checks
5. Ensuring food is stored correctly and in line with regulations
6. Overseeing and supporting kitchen staff on duty, ensuring they understand their responsibilities
7. Communicating with the care home’s administrative team regarding stock levels and food orders when required
8. Bringing fresh ideas to menus and mealtimes to enhance residents’ enjoyment and overall dining experience
* What We’re Looking For
1. Previous experience as a Chef in a care home or similar setting (essential)
2. Strong understanding of COSHH regulations
3. Good knowledge of Health & Safety and food hygiene standards
4. Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
5. Friendly, professional, and approachable manner
6. Proactive with the ability to manage workload effectively and work independently
