Neway International are seeking a Youth Training Tutor to join our client based with Newport City Council.

Location: Godfrey Road, Newport, South Wales, NP20 4UR
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 2 February 2026


About the Client
Newport City Council’s Regeneration & Economic Development service delivers a range of programmes designed to support young people into education, training, and employment. Their youth training provision focuses on personal development, progression, and the removal of barriers, working closely with partners, employers, and support agencies to create positive outcomes for vulnerable and disengaged learners.

The Role
You will contribute to the design, delivery, and performance of commissioned youth training programmes. This includes preparing, delivering, assessing, and evaluating learning within the relevant subject area to the standards required by the service and Awarding Organisations. The role involves supporting learners through structured induction, personal development workshops, and qualification delivery, while ensuring all administrative and compliance-based processes are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities
Design, deliver, and develop relevant learning to promote positive learner progression.

Plan learning and assessment processes with learners.

Recruit learners onto the programme and complete all eligibility documentation.

Deliver structured induction sessions and ensure learners understand programme expectations and goals.

Deliver personal development workshops.

Deliver and support the successful completion of agreed qualifications in line with programme specifications.

Collaborate with stakeholders, partners, employers, training providers, and support agencies to ensure effective referral pathways.

Build and maintain positive relationships with learners, motivating them to fulfil their potential.

Support the Manager in embedding a culture of achievement and ensuring high retention and progression.

Manage weekly/monthly checks of performance, contractual, quality, and compliance targets.

Monitor and complete learner reviews and programme outcomes.

Adhere to Council policies on Equality, Health & Safety, and Safeguarding.

Undertake additional duties appropriate to the grade and nature of the role.

Take responsibility for safeguarding all learners in line with policy and procedures.

Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
Essential:

NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject

PTLLS, IAG, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification

Registration with the Education Workforce Council

Desirable:

QA or Internal Verification qualification

Knowledge
Essential:

Strong knowledge and current practice within the education sector

Understanding of professional boundaries when working with young people

Extensive experience supporting challenging and vulnerable young people

Knowledge of curriculum-based work with young people

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection

Desirable:

Knowledge of publicly funded training schemes

Understanding of contract-based provision

Experience
Essential:

Occupational experience and technical competence in educational pathway delivery

Experience of inter-agency partnership working

Experience supporting vulnerable learners

Experience coordinating programmes

Experience developing course materials

Aptitude & Skills
Essential:

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage challenging behaviours

Excellent organisational skills

Ability to prioritise workload and work independently and as part of a team

Strong communication with participants, staff, agencies, and partners

Adaptability to meet project delivery needs
