Looking for a new challenge in the New Year? If you have experience in the complex moving and handling of people and are ready to move into leadership this could be the role for you.
The Optimised Handling Practice Lead manager is a permanent role which combines a small, highly specialised clinical case load, with team leadership and expert support of others alongside system wide strategic influence.
Hull City Council are commencing an Optimised Handling project for an initial period of 12 months. This role will be instrumental in the operational design and implementation, include the recruitment of two additional staff members to support delivery of this new way of working.
Working with the Operational Manager the Practice Lead will support in the moving and handling assessment of people by Adult Social Care, including new assessments, annual and unplanned reviews. This role will be pivotal in upskilling and support of other staff members across Adult Social Care who require access to expertise in moving and handling, as well as direct oversight of the two additional team members.
Working alongside the Principal Occupational Therapist the post holder will support in the development of a system wide Moving and Handling strategy which will incorporate working with our partner organisations in Health, and Provider organisations within social care.
This role will also have an active involvement in the community equipment service and related community equipment offer.
The aim is to review the optimised handling project at the end of 12 months, however the permanency of this post is not dependant on the review and it will continue beyond the project.
We are looking for an individual for this post who has a minimum of 3 years experience in the moving and handling of people, including working with specialist equipment and uncommon clinical situations such as bariatric, atypical anatomy, altered limbs, uncontrolled movement, multiple complex social and medical needs.

You will be expected to have membership of the National Back Exchange, and to actively work towards developing a portfolio to enable advanced membership of the National Back Exchange if you do not have this already.
The interview will require a face to face presentation on how you meet the criteria for this post and may include a practical element. The presentation can be in a format of your choosing (ie poster/ powerpoint etc). Please confirm with us we are able to accommodate any IT requests in advance.
