We are a friendly, welcoming school seeking to appoint a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support the delivery of our school meals service. The successful candidate will take pride in their work and understand the importance of providing a safe, hygienic and efficient kitchen environment for pupils and staff.
The role is 13.75 hours per week, worked during term time. Exact working hours will be discussed and agreed at appointment, in line with the school’s lunchtime service needs.
Main job purpose:
Support the preparation and service of school meals as part of a small, supportive kitchen team.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety within the kitchen and dining areas.
Assist with routine kitchen tasks including food preparation, serving, washing up, cleaning surfaces and equipment, and waste disposal.
Follow agreed procedures, menus and schedules to ensure a smooth and timely lunch service.
Ideally, you will:
Have experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment (school catering experience is desirable but not essential).
Understand the importance of food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH requirements.
Be reliable and punctual, able to work well as part of a team, and willing to support colleagues during busy periods.
Be willing to undertake mandatory training, including food hygiene and health & safety training.
This position provides an engaging environment for motivated individuals eager to contribute positively while gaining valuable experience.
