The Charnwood Trust is looking to appoint an experienced Nursery Nurse to join the welcoming and friendly team at our Ofsted Outstanding Nursery School and Family Centre in the heart of Heaton Moor.

Person Profile
You will be a patient and caring individual who enjoys working with young children. You will be an effective EYFS practitioner who has understanding and experience of child development and ways in which children learn best. You will place high value on working as part of a nursery team as well as in partnership with parents and carers. Your flexible and thoughtful approach will ensure children learn and develop in a way that is meaningful to them.

Principal Accountabilities
• To embrace Charnwood’s principals and ethos ensuring each child feels included and is celebrated for their individuality and uniqueness
• To support in creating an inclusive and challenging learning environment, both inside and outside, for all children
• To understand children’s developing needs and provide tailored support for children with additional needs
• To support in maintaining a safe and secure nursery environment including following all safeguarding procedures


Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Support in setting up and maintaining the nursery floor and outside area activities each day ensuring the learning environments are inviting and simulating
• Support with daily health and safety checks to ensure all nursery areas are kept safe and secure
• Support the children’s learning and development by participating in various activities, providing opportunities to extend interests and by encouraging and supporting access to activities and resources
• Work as a key worker for individual children to support their individual needs and learning journey
• Take responsibility for meeting children’s toileting needs, matters of hygiene and safety, medication or other needs throughout the day
• Provide support at lunchtime by ensuring dietary requirements are met, encouraging children to eat and try new foods and offering additional support to children with feeding difficulties, ensuring correct procedures are followed
• Attend to any children who become unwell or sustain minor injuries during the course of the day, ensuring procedures are followed and accurate records maintained as required
• Carry out assessments, collecting observations, photos, PLOD’s and samples of work to produce a comprehensive and quality learning journey which is regularly updated and shared with children and parents / carers
• Attend planning meetings as part of your nursery team to review children’s progress, plan next steps and contribute to development of the nursery floor
• Attend statutory and professional development training ensuring you maintain your personal training log
• Actively engage in the ‘Supporting Performance at Charnwood’ model by taking part in supervisions, peer observations and annual appraisals
• Welcome and support visitors to the nursery floor such as volunteers, students and other professionals
• Participate in all nursery activities outside of normal working hours such as Parents evenings, celebration services and fundraising events
• Develop good relationships with parents and carers encouraging their engagement in their child’s learning and development




Additional Duties & Responsibilities

• To understand and follow Charnwood policies and procedures
• To ensure the wellbeing of the children and follow the Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures where you have any concerns
• To report any health and safety concerns you notice to a member of the Senior Leadership Team as soon as possible
• To attend training and team days as appropriate
