Crynodeb

We are looking to complete our team with an individual who can join us in the delivery of an innovative approach to tackling domestic abuse—one that recognises the vital role that families, friends, and communities play in supporting victims. The role focuses on increasing understanding, confidence and agency within communities so that support is safe, compassionate and effective.

The role will be based in our office at the Back on the Map Health Hub in Hendon and we are looking for someone who can work either 2 or 3 days per week.

Fixed Term Contract
This role is offered on a fixed term basis for 6 months, with the contract length reflecting the duration of current project funding. Extension may be considered dependent on future funding decisions.

Job Description

Service Delivery:
• Equip families, friends and other concerned third parties with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively support victims of domestic abuse.
• Provide information and advice to concerned third parties through the Findaway phoneline, webchat and email support.
• Consider safety planning, assessment of risk and dangerousness, and make safe decisions in the interests of victims of domestic abuse and service users.
• Act on safeguarding concerns and practice defensible decision making in line with Findaway and WWIN safeguarding policies.
• Advocate for families, friends and other concerned third parties with external agencies and promote social justice.

Community Engagement & Communications:
• Promote the service and engage with the public through attending/organising community events and having a presence in relevant local initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for future partnership working and support the development of positive relationships with local voluntary and community sector organisations and grassroots groups.
• Support the delivery of a communications strategy including press and media activity, copy, design, social media and website content.
• Support the delivery of training and awareness raising sessions at events, within groups, and actively in the community.
• Support the delivery of public awareness raising campaigns across the North East, both online, on social media, in print and in person.

This job description details the key elements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of all duties. Job roles evolve over time and job holders may be required to complete additional tasks in line with the needs of the organisation.

What skills and experience are needed?
