Introduction
Albion Valves (UK) Ltd specialises in the distribution of valves and pipeline products into the UK reseller and export markets.
Established in Barnsley since 1995, the company is a privately-owned supplier of valves, controls and fittings, which are sold into the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning industries (HVAC) as well as into the general industrial market.
A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Management Accountant based in Dodworth near Barnsley. The role is an exciting opportunity, working closely with the Financial Director alongside our current Finance Team. Be part of a friendly, fast-paced, modern and forward-thinking business.
This new role within the business will suit someone with experience as a management accountant and looking for that next challenge. There will be exposure to the full accounts function, and an ambitious individual will have the opportunity to take an active role in shaping the department as the business continues its rapid success.
There will be heavy involvement in ensuring the effective operation of the
accounts function throughout the business and assist the Financial Director in all aspects of the month-end and year end processes. There will be the requirement to also undertake purchase ledger, credit control, bank reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, balance sheet preparation and annual audit participation.
Duties and Responsibilities
ACCOUNTS DUTIES
• Lead the month-end process, ensuring all trial balances, balance sheets, and supporting management information are accurate and delivered on time.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and audit support.
• Close down the ledgers each month end.
• Prepare Prepayments and Accruals on a month end basis.
• General journal postings as an when required.
• Completion of Quarterly VAT returns
• Produce a payment schedule for UK and Foreign supplier payments.
• Work with the Finance Officer to oversee the reconciliation and posting of Visacard and Staff Expenses.
• Provide support for purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking and bank reconciliations as and when required.
• Offer assistance when required to the Financial Director on any ad hoc projects.
• Ensure financial policies, internal controls, and regulatory compliance are maintained.
• Review financial information systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) certification or extensive qualification by experience as a minimum.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Project a professional and competent image and maintain discretion.
• A high degree of numeracy together with good legibility and accuracy are required in this position.
• The jobholder must be able to work in a flexible manner to cope with unscheduled tasks.
• Strong skills in interpreting complex financial data and translating it into actionable business advice.
• The jobholder is the main point of contact for general accounts queries, so should have understanding of all processes and be proactive in making improvements.
• Ability to explain financial results to non-financial managers.
