To work independently as part of a busy Nursing Department, to meet the needs of patients and service delivery. To be an active and integral member of the Nursing Team, attending team meetings and training sessions, supporting colleagues and working flexibly to cover annual leave or sickness as well as enhanced hours including Saturdays on a rota basis. To act as a chaperone if required/requested by patients and colleagues. To work alongside HCAs and Student Nurses to develop their skills and offer mentorship, guidance and support to improve standards of care if needed. To assist in maintaining a safe environment for the Nursing Team, patients and co-workers, ensuring that all statutory and local regulations (e.g health and safety, COSHH, clinical waste management, infection control) are implemented and followed. To ensure data is recorded accurately and timely onto patient records using SystmOne, with due regard for record management and patient confidentiality. To ensure data is accuractley recordd onto relevant templates and documentation associated with patient health care. To maintain and stock examination rooms and treatment rooms with agreed consumables and clinical equipment/instruments. To collect data and participate in regular practice audits and research projects. To be aware of quality standards and targets set out in NICE guidelines, and NHS contracts, Quality and Outcomes Framework, etc., working to achieve these standards at all times. To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the Practice. To maintain annual registration with the NMC and other professional bodies (as required). To adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct. The post holder will also take on any other duties delegated by the Nurse, Manager, Doctors or Practice Management. Confidentiality: In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately. In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder will have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential. Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously CRB checks) will be undertaken as a matter of course. Form appropriate relationships with those they care for and maintain professional boundaries in their work. Work within the organisational policies, procedures and guidance. Are committed to demonstrating the organisations values and behaviours in their work. Ensure that adult and child safeguarding is embedded as an essential part of their daily practice. Learning and Development: The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the Practice as part of this employment, such training to include: Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of their own personal and/or professional development. Taking responsibility for their own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work. Undertake mandatory and statutory training as required. Team working: Assist and support your line manager to provide a quality service Provide cover for members of your team during periods of sickness and annual leave Support and facilitate change as requested and by participating in team activities to create opportunities to improve customer care Undertake additional tasks as required within your general role Understand own role and scope in the organisation and identify how this may develop over time. Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others and exploring the mechanisms to develop new ways of working. Accept delegation from senior staff, prioritise own workload and ensure effective time management strategies are embedded in own practice. Participate and support local projects as agreed with the management team. Health & Safety: The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include: Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines. Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards Reporting potential risks identified Equality and Diversity: The post-holder will support the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues, to include: Acting in a way that recognises the importance of peoples rights, interpreting them in a way that is consistent with the Practice policies and procedures, and current legislation. Any changes will be discussed prior to implementation wherever possible.
