We are recruiting a Communications Officer (Social Media) to support a local authority communications team during a period of increased workload. This is a hands-on role focused on social media delivery, campaign support, and day-to-day communications activity.
This role suits someone who can hit the ground running in a public sector environment and isn’t fazed by competing priorities or tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Support Senior Communications Managers in delivering effective internal and external communications
Create and distribute content across multiple channels, with a strong focus on social media
Assist with communications and marketing campaigns from planning through to delivery
Provide back-office administrative support to ensure the communications service runs smoothly
Work alongside Communications Specialists across social media, campaigns, media relations, design, and internal communications
Help keep residents, staff, and stakeholders informed and engaged
Additional Information
Some flexibility is required
Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary
Additional hours may be required during peak periods
Requirements
Essential:
Previous experience in communications or marketing
Strong social media content and channel management skills
Excellent written communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, public-facing environment
Confident working as part of a wider communications team
Compliance:
BPSS check required
Right to work in the UK
Ability to provide 3 years’ references
