SCOPE AND RANGE The role provides senior clinical and operational leadership to Plym Bridge House and the PoS which sit within the Children, Young People and Families Services (CYPFS) operational directorate. The unit is part of the SWPC offering Tier 4 inpatient facilities across the region and also has the Devon CYP PoS as part of its offer. This role is crucial to managing a range of service user pathways and oversees the quality of care and treatment. Post-holder will need to: Demonstrate a sound knowledge and provide a clear vision to the strategic direction of identified clinical services. Ensuring excellence in service delivery and clinical governance in conjunction with other nursing, allied health professionals and medical leadership posts. Work with SWPC Case Managers, Contract Leads and Quality Leads to ensure the care delivered is in line with the Tier 4 specification, and the access and referrals process. Lead the development of services by cultivating and communicating a philosophy of care to ensure delivery is based on evidence based best practice and higher standards. The post holder is also accountable for the provision of high-quality care, making the best use of the resources available. Be responsible for maintaining relationships across the system, working transparently and efficiently to oversee patient flow, working with partners to provide the least restrictive practice for the South West Provider Collaborative population. Provide a visible, accessible, and authoritative presence in wards/unit/teams settings to whom staff, patients and their families can turn for assistance, advice and support. Ensure patients and their carers are treated with dignity and respect. Lead on environmental unit issues, including external / internal PEAT initiatives, general environmental improvement, and audit activities/outcomes, ensuring national / local standards and policies are met and implemented, thus promoting a clean environment for care and best practice in infection control. Participate in the CYPFS operational managers Operational Managers on-call rota if requested to do so MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES The Senior Clinical Lead provides professional and clinical leadership to the PBH Team. The post holder will also have influence and contact with all services aligned to the CAMHS pathway. The post-holder is responsible for direct line management for PBH Leads. Responsibilities for Patient Care: Role model clinical leadership Communicate information in a way that makes it relevant and understandable for service users and carers, working to the principles of the functions policy implementation guidelines and practice in line with the standards and values set out in them. Work as part of the team in a clinical capacity where appropriate. Take a lead role in supporting the team in the identification of risk and the formulation of risk management plans. Ensure staff are competent at managing patient risk to self and others. Take a lead role in clinical decision-making, including maintaining the safety of patients, staff and the public in challenging, potentially violent situations. Ensure that communication of decisions is circulated to other agencies and action plans followed, always ensuring Senior Managers and Directors are briefed as and when required. Ensure that the team plan aftercare, making appropriate agreed referrals for longer term treatment. Collaborate with other teams and services in the provision of patient care. Assess and monitor the effect of medication and report observations to medical staff. Provide education to patients and carers to enhance their knowledge, therefore, improving longer term outcomes. Ensure there are robust multi-disciplinary team processes in place within the service that includes timely response to referrals, assessment and risk assessment. Ensure that patients receive relevant information, such as correspondence and phone calls, information about the service, public health announcements and health promotion information in an accessible and timely way. Manage the service user feedback and involvement process, ensuring local resolution of any issues if possible, and take action to improve services as a result of feedback Ensure child and adult safeguarding procedures and guidelines are implemented effectively.
