An exciting opportunity has arisen for a personal assistant to support a friendly, energetic and good humoured male with autism, both in his home and out in the local community.
Job Role
The main job role will be to act as a companion and mentor supporting with the ongoing development of social and independent living skills, whilst broadening his knowledge of activities and groups available locally.
Main tasks involve
• Helping him to develop further interests and activities by identifying and accessing opportunities locally.
• Support in developing friendships and relationships especially in relation to the LGBTQ+ community
• Develop independent living skills through prompting with household tasks, helping with managing money
• Taking shopping, cooking and baking
• Supporting him in volunteering and looking at possible work options
Other requirements
• A car owner / driver with business insurance is desirable.
• Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
• Is comfortable around dogs and enjoys going on dog walks
We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic person with a good sense of humour. Someone who is youthful and energetic with a willingness to also participate in the activities. An interest in music and films would also be an advantage.
Hours & Pay:
6 - 10 hours per week (flexible and reviewed regularly) with the opportunity to increase in the future.
£15 p.p.h employed staff or self employed staff are also welcome to apply and agree hourly rate of pay
