Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking pharmacist to continue to lead and develop clinical pharmacy services, with a particular focus on the acute adult in-patient wards and Crisis Team based at Hammersmith and Fulham (H&F) Mental Health Unit and in the Claybrook Centre. The successful pharmacist will work closely with the Lead Pharmacist Local Services Tri-Borough and pharmacy colleagues on the other Trust sites to develop clinical pharmacy services and continuously raise medicines management standards across the Trust.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with good communication skills and a keen interest in mental health who derives satisfaction from developing both the service and pharmacy colleagues. The applicant should be able to work well both in a team and autonomously.

The pharmacist will be a very valued member of a vibrant, expanding team. Building on the excellent pharmacy service with bases in the five main Trust sites, the team includes pharmacists dedicated to CAMHS, perinatal, the Crisis Teams, the MINT, EIS and CRS Teams and the Older People’s Teams. There is a team focus on growth and development, including Clinical Diplomas, non-medical prescribing qualifications, consultant pharmacist accreditation and writing articles and posters for publication.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Pharmacist Local Services Tri-Borough to lead and develop the clinical pharmacy services to the acute adult in-patient wards and Crisis Teams in Local Services, with a particular focus on the wards and teams based on the Hammersmith and Fulham Site. The candidate will contribute fully to the clinical governance agenda within the Trust, with a particular focus on development and co-ordination of audits and Quality Improvement Projects.

The candidate will provide training and development on medicines management in mental health to junior and trainee staff, including trainee pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacy technicians and visiting trainee pharmacists. The candidate will act as a practice supervisor, educational supervisor and/or designated supervisor to trainee staff as necessary and appropriate.

The candidate will work in collaboration with the rest of the West London NHS Trust pharmacy team to provide pharmacy services across the Trust. Where necessary, the candidate may be asked to cover colleagues’ leaves of absence.
