Serco is seeking a Head of Compliance to lead our Aviation, Space and Technology Assurance team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape and oversee compliance across a dynamic and innovative portfolio, ensuring all operations and personnel meet regulatory approvals and exemptions with precision and integrity.
As the Head of Compliance, you will be the central figure in designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust Safety Management and Compliance Monitoring System that supports every facet of our Aviation, Space and Technology operations. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Main accountabilities:

- Be the primary liaison with key customer stakeholders and Regulatory and Certifying Bodies (MAA, CAA, BSI, LRQA, CAMOs, etc).
- Be the Deputy Accountable Manager.
- Lead on all professional engineering, operational, compliance and assurance matters, bounded by the scope of Serco’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Military Aviation Authority (MAA), ISO9001:2015, AS/EN9110 and any other applicable approvals/certifications across the Aviation, Space & Technology Portfolio.
- Lead with establishing new/necessary approvals, i.e. Design Approved Organisational Scheme (DAOS), Maintenance Approved Organisational Scheme (MAOS).
- Lead the operational Safety and Compliance management team to develop, administer and maintain a highly effective Safety Management and Compliance Monitoring System
- Be the focal point for SME advice across the portfolio, supported by the Air Safety & Compliance Managers.
- Ensuring effective Aviation, Space & Technology safety publicity, education, training and dissemination of information
- Develop and deliver Aviation, Space & Technology compliance related training
- Develop standardised Aviation, Space & Technology policy, procedures and processes in conjunction with the wider Safety & compliance Management team.

What you’ll need to do the role:

- Able to achieve SC Clearance.
- Flexible to travel across UK.
- An experienced Aerospace Engineer, able to satisfy the MAA Form 4 requirements as nominated post holder for Quality delegated Level K authority.
- Hold an Engineering Degree or Higher National Certificate/Diploma & be a registered member of an appropriate institution, & holding Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
- Qualified Lead Auditor with sound understanding of safety, compliance and regulatory requirements to ISO 9001, AS9110, MAA, CAA or EASA standards
- Ability to lead change in performance through safety & operational improvement and strong leadership.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven experience working in military or civil aviation technical environments.
- Experience of leading transformational change.
- Operating in a highly regulated environment, meeting specific accountabilities set out by the regulating authority.
- Competent to deliver training, to all levels within the organisation.
