Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced casual worker to join our Junction 21 Mentoring and Advocacy service, part of Noth Somerset Youth Justice and Prevention Service. Junction 21 is responsible for supporting children at risk of offending and anti-social behaviour, along with advocating for children in care, care experienced children, and children whose family are going through the child protection process.

Key Responsibilities:

Advocating for children in care/care experienced
Advocating for children going through child protection
Advocating for unaccompanied asylum seeking children
Supporting, training and supervision volunteer mentor’s
Supporting children to access social prescribing
Supporting the work of the Youth Justice Service

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting at risk/vulnerable children, and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

5 GCSE passes or equivalent including English Language, maths.
6 months direct work with young people whose behaviour can be challenging or anti-social
6 months experience of working as part of a team.
Demonstrate an ability to form and maintain positive working relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable Criteria:

Proven effective practise in helping young people to desist from offending/ASB
Advocating for children, supporting complaints and giving them a voice in decisions that impact their lives
Recognised qualification in work with adolescents/children
Holding strong boundaries with young people and being consistent
