Norfolk and Norwich Hospital is a leading teaching hospital with world-class facilities. The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services at NNUH work closely together and have over 200 members of staff committed to providing high quality patient care across all specialisms. We are advertising for a highly specialist senior Physiotherapist to join the integrated, multi-disciplinary team working in our pain management service.
The pain management service works as an acute inpatient team based at NNUH and offers outpatient services which are currently based at Adelaide Street Health Centre. This role would be working within the outpatient service.
The team are able to offer highly specialist services such as pain management seminars and programmes, spinal cord stimulation, ACT psychology groups, individual physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology services as well as medical interventions and medication management.
Our goal is to empower patients to develop robust self-management strategies whilst supporting them with a range of medical and multidisciplinary interventions as appropriate. Treatment is based on the latest guidelines from NICE and the BPS, along with other robust scientific evidence.
Part time: 33hrs per week
Interview date: 11th February 2026
The post will suit individuals who have completed their core rotations (on a Band 5 Physiotherapist rotation programme, or similar) and already have experience at Band 6 level in MSK settings who are looking to develop specialist skills in this field.
You will be supported by highly specialist senior staff, comprising specialist physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, specialist nurses and Consultants. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop both clinical and leadership skills working within this interdisciplinary team.
Continuous Professional Development is actively supported through an established appraisal system, in-service training and post graduate library facilities. There will be peer review and support/training from all members of the team. Attendance at Pain conferences and other learning will be encouraged. You will work alongside experienced and dedicated multi-disciplinary colleagues as part of a team of Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy support workers.

• Experienced physiotherapist with highly specialist skills responsible for the physiotherapy management of patients presenting to the relevant service/team within the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
• To be the clinical lead physiotherapist responsible for a defined area of work as specified in Appendix 1 (where relevant).
• To be an expert clinical resource for the physiotherapy management of patients presenting to the relevant specialty, both within the Trust and regionally, as required.
• To represent the physiotherapy service as a clinical expert in initiatives both within and outside the Trust as requested by the Physiotherapy Services Manager or Physiotherapy Service Lead.
• To be responsible for an individual caseload including prioritisation, assessment and management of patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions. Relying on expert clinical judgement and using highly analytical skills, to determine clinical diagnosis and treatment. To maintain records as a legally autonomous practitioner.
