What skills and experience we're looking for
• Qualified teacher status
• Degree
• Qualified SENDCo Status
• Considerable experience of working with Special Educational Needs or as a SENDCo
• Teaching experience (at least 5 years)
• Demonstrable experience and evidence of successful line management and staff development
• Experience of monitoring teaching, learning and assessment that meets the needs of pupils with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium funding
• Experience of writing IEPS and provision maps
• A thorough knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
• A strong understanding of the EHCP process and the evidence required
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to articulate and demonstrate the characteristics of effective planning, learning, teaching and assessment strategies used to support pupils with SEND
• Ability to communicate a vision and inspire others
• Ability to build effective working relationships
• A commitment to getting the best outcomes for all pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the academy
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
• Commitment to safeguarding and equality, ensuring that personal beliefs are not expressed in ways that exploit the position
